CCSO Case # 08-33425

COLTON -- On Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 at 8:04 a.m., Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash at 31158 South Wall Street in Colton.

The vehicle's male passenger walked away from the crash and did not sustain any serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was treated at the scene by emergency responders from Colton Fire and Molalla Fire. LifeFlight was summoned to the scene, and the injured driver was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

The injured driver is identified as Brandon Shauvin, 16, of Colton. Miraculously, Shauvin is reportedly in good condition, with non-life-threatening injuries to his scalp and hand.

Brandon Shauvin was driving a red 1991 Chevrolet Corvette. Witnesses report that the Corvette rolled over several times in the air prior to coming to rest upside-down at the crash site on South Wall Street, just south of Oswalt Road in Colton.

The non-injured passenger is identified as Jefferson W. Stephens, 17, of Molalla. Stephens was cut from his seatbelt by witnesses at the crash scene while suspended upside-down in the mangled wreckage. Stephens removed himself from the vehicle, and did not require any on-scene medical attention.

Brandon Shauvin and Jefferson W. Stephens were wearing seat belts at the time of this crash -- which contributed significantly to saving their lives.

Deputies report that speed is considered a significant factor in the crash.
