At 11:11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, a reportedly elderly male driver mistakenly accelerated instead of braking to stop his automobile in front of a commercial establishment called Johnny's #2, located at 11322 SE 82nd Avenue in Happy Valley.
Consequently, this out-of-control vehicle accelerated through the front of the business -- injuring a female who was working inside the premises.
At 11:11 a.m., Portland resident Ernest R. Blair, age 88, was attempting to park his red 2001 Subaru Forester in front of Johnny's #2 -- which, is presently under renovation for business. Confusing the gas pedal for the brake pedal, Mr. Blair mistakenly accelerated his vehicle -- and drove his Subaru automobile into the front of Johnny's #2.
Mr. Blair was not injured during the resulting crash. Crash-scene photos are linked above.
The Blair vehicle lunged into the business -- striking a female working inside who is employed by Allied Lock & Safe. The victim -- Sarah L. Hall, age 35, of Beaverton -- was in the process of installing security features at this store.
Sarah Hall was conscious and breathing at the scene, and was treated by attending American Medical Response and Clackamas Fire District # 1 paramedics. Ms. Hall was transported to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Clackamas County Deputy John Gibson responded to the scene to investigate -- and obtained the linked still-photo and video images of the crash scene.
