At approximately 1:39 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office patrol car was rear-ended while driving north on SE McLoughlin Boulevard, near SE Holly Ave in unincorporated Clackamas County.
The vehicle -- a blue 1991 Jeep Cherokee -- was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed prior to the impact. The jeep then rolled over onto its side before coming to a stop.
Both drivers were able to climb out of their vehicles, and appeared to be uninjured. They were both transported to local hospitals as a precautionary measure.
The driver of the at-fault vehicle -- Russell Scott Conrad, age 42, of Milwaukie -- was cited and released on the following charges:
- DUII (Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants)
- Criminal Mischief II (x2)
- Assault IV
- Reckless Driving
- Recklessly Endangering Another
The investigation revealed that both intoxicants and speed were factors in the crash.
A witness stated the 1991 Jeep was travelling northbound in the center lane of the highway at an estimated 80 mph just before the crash.
The deputy was treated and released from the hospital. He is home resting now. He is sore from the crash, but is expected to return to work within a week.
