MADD to "Tie One On for Safety" with Les Schwab in Wilsonville this holiday season
MADD's most-recognized awareness campaign marks 22nd anniversary

What:
Media event in which Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Portland Affiliate will kick-off its annual "Tie One On for Safety" holiday ribbon campaign in front of the Les Schwab in Wilsonville. Ribbons will be tied on police cars, and volunteers will be handing out red ribbons.
MADD's "Tie One On for Safety Campaign" urges motorists to tie a MADD ribbon to a visible location on their vehicles as a pledge to drive safe and sober and wear their seat belts, and reminds others to do the same.
This year is MADD's 22nd anniversary for this public-awareness campaign.

Why:
The holidays are among the deadliest times on the road. There are nearly 17,000 alcohol-related traffic fatalities annually. Another half a million are injured each year. In the State of Oregon in 2006, 179 people died due to the actions of an impaired driver. That is an average of over 14 deaths every single month!
