On Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011 at 2:21 p.m., a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputy was injured in a traffic crash when his patrol car was struck head-on by another vehicle. The crash occurred on S. Bakers Ferry Road near S. Harding Road.

The deputy sheriff was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The other vehicle involved was a 1994 Honda Civic driven by a 19-year-old male from Eagle Creek. He was not injured and remained at the scene of the crash.

The deputy sheriff had responded to the area looking for another vehicle that had reportedly been involved in an earlier crash. The deputy had slowed his patrol car and was carefully negotiating a dangerous curve where collisions commonly occur.

The Honda Civic was travelling in the opposite direction at a rate of speed that was unsafe given the wet road and crossed into the oncoming lane, striking the deputy's car.

Following the collision, the Honda Civic spun off the road.

Baker's Ferry Road will remain closed at Harding Road for the next hour while the scene is investigated.
