Today (Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012) at 11:33 a.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue (SAR) team responded to a report of a fallen and injured climber above Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood.

Megan Coker, age 35, of Portland, was climbing with a group near Crater Rock when she reportedly slipped and fell.

Coker fell and slid on glacier ice approximately 300 feet.

Members of the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol responded first to Coker's location. AMR's Reach And Treat (RAT) Team provided medical attention to the climber. Members of Portland Mountain Rescue and Mountain Wave Emergency Communications -- coordinated by Clackamas County SAR -- transported Coker to a waiting ambulance.

Megan Coker was safely rescued from Mt. Hood and transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. She had sustained serious injuries to her leg and ribs, but was alert and responsive during the entire event.
