Posted: April 21st, 2008, 8:19 p.m.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on April 17, 2008, at the commercial address of 10000 SE 82nd Avenue, a victim identified as Tualatin resident Andrew Joseph Noack (born December 1982) was exchanging a small amount of personal property in a parking lot with a prior female acquaintance. The female arrived at this address accompanied by a male subject, identified as suspect Josiah Israel Demeire (born November 1974).
Josiah Demeire, unprovoked, then reportedly attacked Andrew Joseph Noack with a knife.
Demeire fled the scene of the stabbing prior to law-enforcement arrival.
Noack was transported to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital, where he was treated for a knife wound to the head; doctors discovered a broken portion of the knife blade embedded in his skull. Noack survived the assault, and is recovering from this brutal ordeal.
On Monday, April 21, members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit (HVCU) were alerted to Demeire's location -- 7606 SE Harold in Portland.
Portland Police Bureau personnel responded and surrounded the residence at that address. After an estimated one-hour standoff with police, Demeire surrendered himself to Portland Police personnel without further complications.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Detectives were on-scene, and Demeire was transported to Clackamas County Jail and lodged on charges of Assault in the First Degree and Attempted Murder.
Josiah Israel Demeire has an established criminal history in both the State of California and Idaho.
An arraignment is set for Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 3 p.m. in the Clackamas County Circuit Court in Oregon City.
CCSO #08 -13224.
