At 1:30 p.m. this afternoon (Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008), the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office received information that Dustin Tyler Nyberg, an inmate at the Columbia River Correctional Institution, had stolen an automobile from an employee who was working at a Columbia County Food Bank -- then fled the scene as an escapee.

Columbia County Correctional Institutional personnel promptly alerted the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office of Nyberg's walk-away and theft. Nyberg has an established criminal history and family members in Clackamas County.

Members of the Clackamas County Inter-agency Task Force (CCITF) were alerted to the escape, and immediately began searching for Nyberg (born March 1978) at his father's residence in Milwaukie.

At 6 p.m. this evening, Dustin Nyberg was located by CCITF personnel -- passed out inside his father's residence (10145 SE B St., Milwaukie).

The vehicle allegedly stolen by Nyberg to facilitate this escape effort was recovered a short distance from this residence on a side street in Milwaukie.

Nyberg was arrested without incident, transported and lodged at Clackamas County Jail on a charge of Escape. Nyberg is expected to be returned to the Columbia River Correctional Institution tomorrow. A photo is linked above.
