Sometime during the night of Thursday, June 19, someone stole a vehicle belonging to Bridgette Morgan, who resides on SE Talbert Street in Clackamas.
This stolen 2002 Toyota Corolla was recovered later the same day (June 19) by members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit. It was discovered partially submerged in the Clackamas River -- near McIver State Park in Estacada.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine personnel responded quickly to the report of a vehicle observed in the middle of the Clackamas River. Marine deputies worked to have the unoccupied Toyota quickly towed from the river -- in an effort to avoid significant contamination of the river.
The Toyota reportedly remained upright at all times, and did not leak any petroleum or other hazardous waste into the river.
Anyone with information related to this vehicle theft and dumping in the Clackamas River is encouraged to call the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office confidential Tip Line at 503-723-4949.
