Clackamas County Sheriff's Office identifies deceased male found on island on upper Willamette; no foul play revealed
On Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 5 p.m., a deceased male adult was discovered by fishermen as they were negotiating a heavily wooded island on the upper Willamette River along State Hwy 99E, south of Oregon City.
The deceased male was found on the island near a burned-out campfire.
The discovery prompted an investigation by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Patrol personnel; the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit (HVCU); the Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner; and the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.
The deceased has been identified as James John Gaffney (born April 1965), formerly of Gladstone, Oregon.
The investigation indicates no foul play. The precise cause and manner of death are pending, following toxicology reports.
