The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reports that a 1987 Toyota 4Runner -- with the owner's 8-month-old puppy inside -- was stolen from the southeast parking lot of Clackamas Town Center today (Jan. 26).
Fortunately, the vehicle was later recovered -- with the registered owner's puppy inside, unharmed and pleased to be reunited with his master.
The owner of the stolen truck and puppy is identified as Gresham resident Callie W. Schneider (born August 1985).
Mr. Schneider is reportedly employed at Clackamas Town Center's REI store, and arrived at work at 10:30 a.m. this morning. He had parked his Toyota 4Runner in the parking lot near the REI establishment.
He first discovered his vehicle -- which contained his faithful companion canine "Charlie" -- was missing around 3 p.m.
When the vehicle was first reported as stolen from the Town Center lot, friends and family of the victim launched an intensive search for the vehicle and dog. Also, Schneider provided the attached photos of his stolen vehicle and Charlie.
"Charlie" is described as wearing an orange REI Adventure collar and is an 8-month-old Rhodesian-ridgeback/pit-bull mix with a very gentle disposition. He reportedly has coloring on his rear paws resembling white-colored socks. At approximately 7:30 p.m. this evening (Jan. 26), the vehicle and animal were located by a family friend in the Winco parking lot at 11250 SE 82nd Ave. in Happy Valley. The vehicle's stereo and speakers were removed -- although, Charlie was inside, and appeared to be in good condition.
No suspects were present at the time of the vehicle recovery.
Clackamas Town Center Security is reviewing surveillance video, which may become available in the near future. If and when this surveillance data becomes available, media outlets will be provided with any distinguishable suspect images promptly.
