'Safety Fair' set for Saturday, Aug. 29 at Clackamas Town Center

WHAT: “SAFETY AND ROADWAY FAIR”

WHEN: Aug. 29, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Have fun while learning about safety!

The 2009 "Safety and Roadway Fair" will be held at Clackamas Town Center on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Located outside in the mall's West Village (between Macy’s and Sears), the Fair will offer something for everyone:

• Safety professionals from 9-1-1, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, Clackamas County Dog Services, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Posse, Portland General Electric and Clackamas County Fire District #1 will be on hand to answer questions and provide important prevention messages.

• The event also features a "Roadway Fair" welcoming experts from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), Street Smart, and TriMet.

• A child safety-seat clinic will be offered by the Alliance for Community Traffic Safety (ACTS Oregon) for those wanting to ensure correct car-seat installation.

• And there’s more! Fire engines, watercraft, command vehicles, and road equipment including dirt-movers will be parked all around. Children can visit stations and earn prizes by answering safety questions. There will also be a raffle every hour!

• Finally, for children 8 years and under, the popular "Safety Street" pedal cars will be available for kids to out for a "spin."

This event is sponsored by the Clackamas County Traffic Safety Commission, the Happy Valley Traffic and Public Safety Committee, and Clackamas Town Center.
