Sheriff's Office arrests man for alleged sexual assaults of sex-industry workers; more victims suspected; tips sought

On Oct. 12, 2011, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested James Truman Kenneth Murphy, age 29, of Clackamas, for the alleged sexual assault of two sex-industry-workers.

Mr. Murphy's arrest followed a joint investigation between the Portland Police Bureau and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office that began in 2010.

Mr. Murphy was arrested yesterday afternoon after attempting to elude arresting deputies on foot. A short foot chase resulted in his capture without further incident or injury.

Mr. Murphy is currently held in the Clackamas County Jail on $500,000.00 bail. His charges are as follows:


Investigators report Mr. Murphy met his victims both online and in person while soliciting prostitution. They also believe that due to the illicit nature of his contacts with victims, there may be more unreported crimes.
