At approximately 10 p.m. on Monday April 25, 2011, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person at Dodge Park, located at 11021 SE Lusted Rd. in Sandy.

A man reported that he had given a woman in her early 20s a ride to the park because she told him that she lived near there. When they arrived, the woman reportedly asked where the river was and headed off in that direction.

The man became concerned because he didn't see any houses in that direction -- so he called 911.

Deputies arrived and found the woman lying naked in the Sandy River. They were unable to reach her with rescue throw bags -- but using their patrol car's bullhorn, they were able to get her to move onto an island in the middle of the river.

River-rescue units from Sandy Fire Department, Clackamas Fire District #1, the Gladstone Fire Department and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue arrived and were able to remove the woman from the island.

No injuries were reported, but the woman was suffering from hypothermia and was showing signs of confusion. She was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Her name is being withheld at this time, as Sheriff's deputies investigate to ensure that she is not the victim of a crime.
