Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reports adult male struck and killed by oncoming train

On Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008 at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of an unidentified male adult who was struck by an oncoming Amtrak train as he was seated on the railroad tracks in the area of SE 94th Avenue and SE Church Street in Clackamas.
Witnesses report that the male appeared to be consuming some type of beverage while sitting on one of the rails on this portion of the railroad before he was struck -- and instantly killed -- by the oncoming train.
Members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Clackamas County Fire District #1, the Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office and railroad investigators responded to the scene.
The Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner will take possession of the deceased to confirm positive identification and notify family members.
All railroad traffic was halted along this Union Pacific railroad line during this death investigation. It was reopened for normal travel at 8:31 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10.
