Sanitary
sewer connection fees paid by developers increase Feb. 1 in Clackamas County
Service District No. 1
The third and final phase of
a system development charge (SDC) increase for the North Clackamas service area
of Clackamas County Service District No. 1 will go into effect on February 1,
2010. The Clackamas County Board of Commissioners approved the
three-phase implementation of an SDC increase in 2008.
SDCs are established, in
accordance with state law, to equitably spread the costs of essential capital
improvements to new development.
Sanitary sewer SDCs are paid
by developers when they add a new connection to the public sanitary collection
system. The North Clackamas Service Area includes unincorporated North
Clackamas County, and the cities of Happy Valley and Damascus.
Other Clackamas County
SDCs - for transportation and for parks - will remain unchanged in
2010. Both of these fees have not been increased since 2008.
Transportation SDCs are
one-time fees assessed on new or expanded developments based on the number of
vehicle trips a particular land use generates. Transportation SDCs apply
in unincorporated Clackamas County and the Clackamas County/City of Happy
Valley joint area.
Parks SDCs are one-time parks
fees assessed on new or expanded development in the boundaries of the North
Clackamas Parks & Recreation District in unincorporated North Clackamas
County.
