Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Safe Communities and West Linn School District invite media to 'movie premiere' at OMSI May 20

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Safe Communities and West Linn School District invite media and interested parties to the:

Willamette Primary – "Movie Premiere" at OMSI

Take part in this special viewing of six Public Service Announcements
Created by 4th and 5th Grade Students from Willamette Primary School
Mr. Diltz's Class         

When: Tuesday, May 20th, 10 a.m.
Where: OMSI – Auditorium

Viewing is FREE and open to the public. OMSI admission not included. 
      
Don't miss this opportunity to view six ambitious safety videos created by 4th and 5th grade students from West Linn.  Topics include: 


These videos earned the 2008 Crime Prevention Association of Oregon "Media Award" for their effective and innovative use of media.  Student teams performed every task from research and script writing to filming and editing.  These videos will be used in educational presentations, as well as, featured on public access and safety websites.

Last fall, Sheriff Craig Roberts asked Safe Communities staff to develop projects that would focus on youth safety.  The first, "Teen Triple Threat," targeted high school students and driving behaviors.  Teens created safe driving messages about speed, distracted driving and impaired driving.  These ads have been featured throughout the county.  Now, Willamette Primary Elementary students demonstrate their ability to safety messages full of impact.

The videos have been a year-long project initiated by teacher, Michael Diltz.  Local agencies such as: the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Willamette Cable, American Medical Response (AMR), Willamette Falls Hospital, and Oregon Poison Center donated equipment, staff time and technical assistance.
