Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested Michael James Allen, age 23 -- a fugitive believed responsible for the theft of a vehicle and fraudulent use of a credit card in Clackamas County on Oct. 14.
Michael James Allen and a female companion were contacted by deputies during a routine traffic stop Oct. 14 at 10:30 p.m. in the area of 9000 SE Sunnyside Road in Clackamas. During this traffic stop, it was determined Michael Allen was a wanted person, and he was arrested at the scene.
Michael Allen was transported to the Clackamas County Jail and lodged on the following charges:
A short time later, an alert Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Patrol Sergeant had occasion to view a police bulletin and news broadcasts reporting the Oct. 14 incident involving a stolen automobile and subsequent use of a stolen credit card at a Target store.
This Sergeant witnessed the arrest of Michael Allen on the evening of Oct. 14 and recalled the clothing Allen was wearing at the time he was arrested. This resulted in the identification of Allen as a suspect in the vehicle theft and the credit-card fraud at the Target store -- conducted only a few hours before his arrest.
Incidentally, Allen was wearing clothing during his booking process identical in appearance to what he was allegedly wearing while being captured on the Target security surveillance recording system.
This investigation is ongoing, and is expected to be submitted to the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office soon.
