On Sept. 2, 2011, a few minutes after 6 p.m., Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies and Clackamas Fire District #1 firefighters responded to a 911 call regarding a motorcycle crash near 15911 Springwater Rd., outside Oregon City.
When emergency workers arrived, they found the male driver of the motorcycle and his female passenger deceased due to their injuries.
Both motorcycle riders were wearing helmets.
Several citizens who witnessed the crash and stopped to help provided emergency workers with information. Deputies are still investigating the crash, but as of now we know the motorcycle crossed the center line while negotiating a curve. At the same time, a car was traveling in the opposite direction. The motorcycle collided with the side of the car -- causing the two on the motorcycle to be ejected into the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with the investigation. The driver of the car was not injured or impaired.
At this writing, alcohol does not seem to be a factor. Inexperience may have been a factor, due to the fact that the driver of the motorcycle had not had his motorcycle endorsement for very long.
All the parties involved in this collision were adults. The names of those involved will not be released at this time.
Springwater Road between McCubbin Road and Bakers Ferry Road has been closed since 6 p.m. [Sept. 2] and will continue to be closed until approximately 11:30 p.m. [Sept. 2].
