Vehicle strikes bicyclist; Sheriff's Office arrests driver on DUII charges

At about 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2011, a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle while the cyclist was riding on Beavercreek Road near Ferguson Road in Clackamas County. The bicyclist was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital by Life Flight. The driver was arrested on charges of DUII and Assault II.
At about 2:40 p.m., Lonnie Lee Baker, age 62, of Molalla, was allegedly driving a 2006 Dodge pick-up truck southbound on Beavercreek Road near Ferguson Road when he struck a bicyclist riding on the shoulder of the same road.
Deputies have identified the bicycle rider as John K. Crosswhite, age 47. He was taken by Life Flight from the scene to Emanuel Medical Center where he was last reported in critical condition.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Mr. Baker at the scene. He has been charged with DUII and Assault II.
Deputies have concluded the investigation at the scene, and the roadway is open.
