Clackamas County Search & Rescue teams find missing elderly man near Happy Valley

Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue (SAR) teams successfully located a missing 86-year-old man near Happy Valley.

Vladimir Pereyaslov, 86, went for a walk from his home in the 16200 block of SE Sager Rd, Happy Valley after noon today (Friday, Jan. 13). Mr. Pereyaslov’s family reported him missing at 5:52 p.m. after he did not return home.

Mr. Pereyaslov’s family told responders Mr. Pereyaslov suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.

Vladimir Pereyaslov only speaks Russian, and was described as 5-foot 9-inches tall, with a heavy build and white hair. He had last been seen wearing a dark-blue coat and light-blue jeans.

Search efforts included several trained and organized volunteer search groups working with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

The media staging area was located at the Scouter’s Mountain Elementary School near SE Sager Road and SE 172nd Ave. The Search & Rescue (SAR) command post was located at the adjacent fire station.

At 8:35 p.m. this evening (Friday, Jan. 13), Vladimir Pereyaslov was located by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office SAR teams near SE Sager Rd and SE 172nd Ave. in Happy Valley.

Although cold and disoriented, Mr. Pereyaslov was uninjured. After a short medical check at the scene, Mr. Pereyaslov was returned to his family.

Search efforts were supported by Mountain Wave Emergency Communications, Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue, NORSAR, Clackamas Fire District #1, the Portland Police Bureau and the Oregon Army National Guard.

Over 50 volunteers participated in this successful search mission.
