Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Unit gets new van

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has replaced its old Crime Prevention vehicle -- a converted AMR ambulance with more than 216,000 miles -- with a brand new mini cargo van.

"The sleek, new Ford Transit Connect has a distinctive look that's been causing a lot of head-turning out on the road," writes Sheriff's Office Crime Preventon Officer Sara McClurg. "The van is equipped with 4-speed automatic transmission that is said to get up to 25 MPG on the highway."

The vehicle -- which has been outfitted with lights, sirens, and the Sheriff’s logo -- will be used to carry gear to and from Crime Prevention events and will appear in local parades and at community safety fairs.
