Suspect flees abandoned vehicle on foot after Sheriff's Office pursuit; search continues

On Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 11:23 p.m., a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Patrol deputy attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on a motor vehicle described as a 1980 Chevrolet Caprice station wagon.
This suspect driver failed to yield to the deputy's activated emergency lights and siren -- accelerating rapidly from the vicinity of SE Sunnyside Road in Happy Valley.
The deputy pursued the offending vehicle. The chase ended at 11:35 p.m., when the suspect driver stopped and abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot in the area of 22710 NE Halsey in Fairview.
The suspect driver was not apprehended, and law enforcement personnel -- who had established containment in this area -- terminated their search for the suspect at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Friday morning (May 1).
The station wagon -- abandoned by the suspect -- was seized as evidence by law-enforcement personnel and towed from the scene.
This investigation continues. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has investigative leads pertaining to this incident.
