On Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at 11:37 p.m., rescue personnel representing the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Clackamas Fire District #1, LifeFlight, and American Medical Response responded to the scene of a head-on collision on SE Jennifer Street, near SE 106th in Clackamas. (Photos linked above.)
The investigating deputy reports that a silver 1998 Chrysler Sebring is believed to have been traveling lawfully eastbound on SE Jennifer Street at the time of the crash. This vehicle was operated by Ronald Joe Voegeli, age 45, of Oregon City.
There were no passengers in the Voegeli vehicle; however, Clackamas Fire used the "Jaws of Life" to extract Mr. Voegeli from his mangled vehicle. The injured Voegeli was transported from the scene conscious and breathing by an American Medical Response ambulance to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland. Voegeli was later determined to have suffered at least one broken rib due to the crash.
The second vehicle involved in this crash is described as a green 1994 Ford Focus. This vehicle was driven by David Brian Kinsella, age 49 -- who is believed to have been in operation of this vehicle with a suspended Oregon driver's license.
It is suspected that Kinsella's vehicle may have traveled across two lanes of travel and into the oncoming lane of traffic prior to the crash. There were no passengers in the Kinsella vehicle.
David Kinsella was also extracted from the wreckage by Clackamas Fire rescue personnel using the "Jaws of Life." The seriously injured David Kinsella was airlifted from the scene by LifeFlight and taken directly to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.
As of Feb.14, 2009 at 10 p.m. David Kinsella remained hospitalized and was reportedly in critical condition.
This traffic crash remains under investigation. Alcohol is considered to be a contributing factor.
