Two injured after vehicle crashes into tree

Just after 8 p.m. on July 4, 2011, a Silver 2004 Chrysler Sebring driven by Thomas Junior Jackson, age 21, crashed through a fence and struck a tree in the backyard of an apartment at the Stephanie Court Apartments (7820 SE Stephanie Court, Clackamas).

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded with Clackamas Fire District #1 personnel to the scene within five minutes.

Clackamas Fire extricated Mr. Jackson from the vehicle using specialized equipment. Mr. Jackson and his passenger, Alex Romero, age 20, both from Portland, were transported to OHSU by ambulance.

Witnesses stated the vehicle was traveling at a very high rate of speed before it lost control without apparent reason. The vehicle fishtailed, struck the curb and crossed the sidewalk before it crashed through a fence and impacted a large tree.

The apartment building was not struck.

No one else was injured in the crash.

This incident is still under investigation by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
