AQUATICS EQUIPMENT SPECIALISTCLASS CHARACTERISTICS Under direction, to plan, coordinate and perform the operation, maintenance and repair of the pools and related water attractions at the Aquatics Center; and to do other work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS The North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District provides aquatic, park, recreation, education and social services to senior citizens, students and other County residents within the park district boundaries. The Aquatics Center has seven indoor water attractions, including slides, wave pool, activity pool, children’s pool, competitive pool, diving well, sauna and hot tub, as well as concessions and conference rooms. The Aquatics Equipment Specialist is responsible for the proper operation of all pools and related equipment, including water chemical balance, inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs and contracted services. The Aquatics Equipment Specialist differs from the Building Maintenance Specialist which does not have the specialized training, certification or responsibility for operating and maintaining water park equipment. TYPICAL TASKS Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Working knowledge of: Methods and techniques of operating and repairing aquatic water park equipment and facilities, including wave generators and water slides; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), hot water boiler and related physical plant systems; preventive maintenance practices; principles of pool chemistry; water filtration technology; Federal, State and County health and safety laws, codes and regulations related to aquatic centers; water safety, first aid and emergency response procedures; basic bookkeeping and record keeping techniques. Skill to: Test, evaluate and maintain appropriate chemical balance and sanitary conditions in pools and water attractions; safely handle pool chemicals, including carbon dioxide, liquid chlorine and soda ash; identify and repair minor equipment malfunctions; prepare bids for contracted maintenance services; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; interact with customers of all ages, from infancy to senior citizen; prepare and maintain reports and records; interpret and apply Federal, State and local laws, regulations and statutes; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with local community organizations, vendors, contractors, County employees and the public. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Current certification as a Pool Operator, and in First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. MINIMUM RECRUITING STANDARDS Any satisfactory combination of experience and training that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge and skills. | |
