Sheriff's Office investigates serious two-vehicle crash in Boring
Posted: March 15th, 2009, 8:39 a.m.
On Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 9:38 p.m., Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Patrol deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of SE Church and SE Frank Road in Boring.
Boring Fire rescue personnel were on-scene, and asked LifeFlight to airlift from the scene the lone injured male driver of a white 1995 Honda Accord involved in the crash. LifeFlight was forced to abort this mission due to existing inclement-weather conditions. The male driver was instead transported to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital by ground -- and remains in critical condition as of 7:30 a.m. this Sunday morning (March 15).
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office investigators report that at approximately 9:38 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, the white 1995 Honda was traveling eastbound on SE Church Street. An oncoming westbound vehicle -- described as a black 1990 Chevrolet Suburban -- was reportedly situated in a stationary position at the intersection of SE Church, anticipating a left-hand turn onto SE Frank. The rapidly approaching Honda reportedly collided with the Suburban in the middle of the intersection. The Honda then rolled and came to rest on its top along the roadway.
The Honda's driver was ejected from this vehicle following the collision. He remains in critical condition at OHSU. Speed and alcohol are considered factors contributing to this incident.
The male driver and female passenger occupying the Chevrolet Suburban were not injured. However, the male driver was complaining of chest pains at the scene, and was transported to the Mount Hood Medical Center for evaluation.
Members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction And Forensic Team (CRAFT) responded to the scene and investigated the crash site on SE Church Road for about six hours. This traffic crash investigation is ongoing.
