'Cops on Doughnut Shops' raise money for Special Olympics July 17-19
Posted: July 15, 2009
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and area law-enforcement personnel are teaming up to raise money from doughnut lovers.
During the weekend of Friday-Sunday, July 17-19, Krispy Kreme will be hosting the popular “Cops on Doughnut Shops” event, which raises money for Special Olympics Oregon.
Donations will be collected that weekend at three area Krispy Kreme stores:
• Volunteers from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office will be at the Clackamas Krispy Kreme store at 9950 SE 82nd Avenue, Portland.
• Volunteers from the Oregon Air National Guard and Hillsboro Police Department will be at the Washington County Krispy Kreme (16415 NW Cornell Road, Beaverton) and the Vancouver Krispy Kreme (8517 NE Andresen Rd.).
Also, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office volunteers will deliver doughnuts to companies that pledge $500 or more to Special Olympics Oregon. You can also email Special Olympics Oregon offices at aellermeier@soor.org to make donations to have doughnuts delivered to your office.
Customers who donate $5 or more to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics will receive not only the sincere thanks of participating law-enforcement personnel, but will also receive treats from Krispy Kreme ranging from a free doughnut to a free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts. Corporations, organizations or individuals donating $1,000 or more will receive a free Krispy Kreme doughnut party for their employees.
The funds are being raised through the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) -- a program of Special Olympics comprising members of the Oregon law-enforcement community. LETR members raise funds year-round for Special Olympics and preside over the Torch Run, a relay that carries the Flame of Hope to Special Olympics competitions.
