The official start of holiday shopping on "Black Friday" will bring with it another seasonal tradition at Clackamas Town Center: mounted patrols by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Posse.

"This will be our 14th year out at the Town Center," said Mike Hattan, community service coordinator for the Posse.

Patrols will continue from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. on weekends throughout the holiday season, ending on Sunday, Dec. 18.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Posse is an all-volunteer organization that participates in search and rescue missions, parades and other events throughout the year.

The Posse's efforts at Clackamas Town Center have been credited with a 25-percent reduction in car break-ins and thefts.

"Our people just really enjoy coming out to do this every year," said Hattan.

Media outlets interested in interviewing Clackamas County Sheriff's Posse members during the holiday patrol at Clackamas Town Center can contact Community Service Coordinator Mike Hattan at 503-621-2739.
