At approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2011, Adam R. Vanvactor died as a result of a motorcycle crash in south Clackamas County.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the motorcycle crash, which reportedly occurred in a filbert orchard near the residential address of 33475 S. Barlow Rd. in Woodburn.
Monitor Fire Department personnel were first on the scene, and attempted to revive Adam Robert Vanvactor, 17, who had crashed his motorcycle into a tree.
Vanvactor, a resident of Oregon City, had died at the scene of the crash prior to deputy arrival.
The Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner responded to the crash scene to assist with the investigation.
The accident occurred on private property, and high speeds are considered to be a factor. There were no indications that drugs or alcohol were involved.
Although there were no eyewitnesses to the accident, it was determined that no other vehicles or people were involved in the crash.
Members of the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) were summoned to the scene to assist the victim's family with their emotional needs.
Trauma Intervention Programs, Inc. (TIP) is a national voluntary nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that those who are emotionally traumatized in emergency situations receive the assistance they need. To accomplish that goal, TIP Inc. works closely with local communities to establish emergency services volunteer programs. In these programs, well-trained citizen volunteers are called to emergency scenes to assist family members, witnesses, and other bystanders who the emergency system often must leave behind.
