Media and Interested PartiesMcLoughlin area neighbors in unincorporated Clackamas County invited to November 21 Community Summit
People who live, work or own property in unincorporated Clackamas County south of Milwaukie and north of Gladstone are invited to participate in a Community Visioning Summit on Saturday, November 21, at Concord Elementary School, 3811 SE Concord Rd., Milwaukie.
The purpose of the summit, which is sponsored by the McLoughlin Area Planning (MAP) Committee, is to develop a vision for the future of the neighborhoods and communities that make up the McLoughlin Area.
The summit will include an open house from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and a hands-on visioning workshop from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. At the workshop, people will learn more about efforts to enhance and revitalize the area, and participate in large and small group activities to talk about the future of their community. The open house and workshop are open to the public, and will include refreshments.
MAP Committee Chair and community member Paul Savas says, "We invite people from across the community - residents, businesses, youth, environmental and community groups, and anyone else interested - to attend the Community Summit to help create a vision for the future of our area."
The McLoughlin area is defined as the unincorporated portions of Clackamas County bounded by the Willamette River on the west, Webster Road to the east, the City of Milwaukie to the north and the City of Gladstone to the south. The MAP Committee is a citizen group working in cooperation with Clackamas County to help the community define the focus area, a vision for that area, and potential tools to make that vision a reality.
Savas said, "The committee will be working hard to balance the needs and desires of residents and businesses."
Other community activities will be held during the planning process, including focus groups and interviews, a community questionnaire, community meetings and events, and one-on-one engagement through community volunteer ambassadors. Input gathered from the outreach efforts will guide planners as neighbors develop a vision for the McLoughlin area community.
